SUPing has seen huge growth over the last few years and it's not hard to see why. With practice and a bit of determination, it's easy to do - and compared to many other water sports, it’s relatively pain free. You can use our many shores, rivers lochs, canals and lakes!! Or if you fancy guaranteed sunshine and calm waters you can jump on a plane and head abroad.
With prices high, for good quality paddle boards, and many sub-standard SUP's on the market, it's hard to know what brand to choose. Improved balance and stability
Getting up on your paddle board is relatively easy - staying up can sometimes be a challenge! Maintaining your balance requires you to have and develop core strength and strong legs. This becomes second nature very quickly and in turn helps your balance and posture in everyday activities.
It’s a full body workout
You will be using your leg muscles to keep yourself stable, your back, arms and shoulders will be fully engaged in paddling and your abdominal muscles will be constantly working to strengthen your core. All of this without a gym machine in sight!

For any of you that have experienced strains, sprains, shin splints, twisted ankles, knee pain, hip pain - or any of the other injuries and ailments that come from high impact exercises such as cycling, running, tennis, squash or working out at the gym - this will be a revelation. SUPing is gently on your body while giving you a good cardio workout. It can also be used as a HIIT (high intensity interval training) workout, by mixing it up a bit and changing your rowing speeds and intensity.

As you get more and more in to SUPing, you will notice an increase in your strength. At first you may find that it tires you out and that certain muscles are a bit sore! But as time goes on, you will paddle further, faster and for longer!
